“I

without comments

In case you don’t look at this blog directly (i.e., through RSS): I just put my new WordPress theme “I <3 Python” as default theme for the page. I know that comments are not being displayed and I’ll fix it as soon as possible.

Take a look and send your opinions (you need to send me an email — remember: comments are not working). Suggestions for improvements are also welcome.

Edit 1: Headings are also not working (well, they are, but they are changing the font size). You can check it on the Meta Personal FAQ page.

Native works

without comments

Today I just had a co-worker come to my desk, look at my screen with the browser open with the mock up of the new WordPress theme I’m writing and ask “How do you do that?”

“Oh, it is just the border the of the div, and this div is a float, so it looks like this”, I answered.

That’s when another co-worker, which knows I’m writing this, asks the first one “Wait. Do you think this is VIM?”

“Yes” was the answer.

Now I know I’m in the right track.

To monofont or not to monofont; that’s the question

without comments

Wordy is cool, but there are some things I still need to fix (paging, for example). Also, it is getting old pretty fast and, for some reason, I’m thinking about writing another WordPress theme.

The problem is: the best idea I have right now is a monospaced theme based on a vim coloscheme showing a Python code (and, as an internal joke, it is extremely funny). It doesn’t look like a big problem, right? Except that, everything I start designing a monospaced theme, I remember two friends saying “Oh no! Not another ‘Matrix’ like theme!”.

But, so far, I don’t think I should worry too much about it. I mean, monospaced themes are done by nerds and, for Gods sake, I’m a huge fucking nerd.

Stay tuned.

Edit 1: It looks like this this.

Giving Wordy a spin

without comments

So, finally, I decided to put Wordy as default theme. So far, I’m kinda pleased with it. I still have some things to fix but, so far, I’m think it will be the most awesome theme for WordPress EVER!

Wordy progress

without comments

After almost two weeks fighting PHP, I managed to finally have the page menus I want on my WordPress theme. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look as cool as I thought, but I still have some other things to fix and maybe some idea to fix them appear in the mean time. But I think this was the hardest part, so everything now should be a smooth ride.

“When will this crazy dude stop changing his theme?”

without comments

For those who still come to this site regularly and are asking yourself “when will this guy stop changing his theme?”, the answer is, probably “When I write my own”.

The thing is: WordPress themes suck. Big time. I can’t find a theme that 1) uses all available space (themes with fixed sizes are stupid), 2) are widget ready and 3) look good.

Any suggestions are welcome (and, if you want, I can list the problems with the themes I tried).

I’m so dumb that it hurts

without comments

Amazing! I just managed to delete all pictures in pics.slowhome.org. And I guess the only pictures I had backup were the ones of the trip to Europe (but I can re-upload that, as the backup is still in Brazil).

And the fun fact now is that I wanted to clean up the things to make it easier to start making backups of the DreamHost hosted data…

PS: You know what? There was something bugging me about Gallery that I couldn’t “tag” images and put them in different categories at the same time. Another itch to scratch or you guys know something that allow me to do that?
